Fauxy Furr’s Flower Child

May 4, 2018
flower child

Is it Fashion Friday or Flashback Friday? It’s hard to tell when I’m dressed like a flower child. This vintage dress from Fauxy Furr Vintage is perfect for flower fields or festival season.

I spotted this flower field en route to Chrysta and Jill’s house for a Fauxy Furr sleepover. I think it’s another one of my marijuana manifestations, because I’ve been dreaming of a shoot like this. When I told the ladies my vision, Chrysta pulled this blue beauty out. Boom, photo vision accomplished!

Living that Ooze Life at the Skagit Valley Tulip Fields

May 2, 2018
ooze life

Stop and smell the flowers, but if you’re smoking them make sure to bring your Ooze cannabis accessories. Whether I’m running through flower fields or smoking flower at home, these pieces are perfect for my active lifestyle.

My friend Flynn and I adventured to one of my favorite places, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. I’ve shot at this scenic spot the last two years and the colors never get old. Reds, whites, pinks and purples line the fields as I lit up my favorite flower — Mary Jane.

Smoking Crow — Best Weed in Bellingham

May 1, 2018
weed bellingham

This weekend I hosted a meet-and-greet at Bellingham’s newest cannabis retailer — Smoking Crow. I mingled with customers, spoke with staff and photographed this cozy shop that carries some of the best weed in Bellingham.

Smoking Crow’s philosophy is “cannabis leads to community.” Similar to crows, who roost together to cultivate strength in numbers, Smoking Crow believes in the power amongst the cannabis community. Staff work as a team to supply the highest quality products in an atmosphere that feels like home.

STIIIZY Challenge Around Venice Beach

April 11, 2018
stiiizy challenge venice beach

I recently participated in the #StiiizyChallenge, where you take as many hits as possible without coughing. Since I've got lungs like a champ, I figured why not incorporate STIIIZY into my everyday routine? From my morning workout to evening bike ride, these pens makes it easy to puff on the go.

I started my STIIIZY challenge with a run around the Venice canals. When I lived in Los Angeles, I loved stoney runs around the water. Next I took my STIIIZY pen to edit photos on Abott Kinney. Something about cannabis helps evoke my creativity. Finally, I ended my challenge with a bike ride along the boardwalk.

Feeling Wavy in Pink Dolphin Women’s Apparel

March 16, 2018
pink dolphin womens

Swimming through Chinatown in one of my favorite brands, but this isn't just any Fashion Friday post. It's an extra special announcement because Pink Dolphin is finally coming out with a line of Pink Dolphin women's apparel!

Usually when I stop by 420 N Fairfax the crew outfits me in small menswear, which works, but this baby's got back. Plus sometimes I like to be comfy but still styled on the feminine side. Naturally, I couldn't be more stoked to see apparel made for my hourglass shape, and all the ladies who love stylish streetwear.

Flowers and Film with Alysha Nett

March 15, 2018
alysha nett

I am beyond excited to share these photos by the talented Alysha Nett. We coordinated a shoot during my last trip to LA and it felt nothing short of magic. This set is extra special, for several reasons, making it a very appropriate #TBT.

First, Alysha shoots film for her Instagram @alyshatakesphotos. It’s most 35mm, so we got 24 shots per look. I have a strong affinity for film. Not only did I grow up shooting it, I love the emphasis film places on each shot. No rapid fire here. As for the grain? It’s not an Instagram filter, it’s authentic!

Adventures with Avitas Cannabis

March 12, 2018
avitas cannabis

I love adventures. There’s something about getting off the grid to reconnect with nature that soothes my soul. You know what else helps me connect with nature? Cannabis. Especially if it’s concentrates from Avitas cannabis!

Mandee and I adventured to one of my favorite places, Wallace Falls, and we packed a couple carts for the trail. Since we’re reconnecting with nature, we wanted to keep things as natural as possible, which is why we opted for Avitas cannabis. Their cartridges are 100% additive free, unlike other brands on the market. That’s right, no fillers, additives, dilutants, flavorings or fluff — just clean, pure cannabis.

What do you get when you combine Paradiso Gardens, Palm Springs and Ladies of Paradise? A cannabis paradise — and that's exactly what last weekend felt like.

We teamed up for fun in the sun to create content for Paradiso Gardens, a new brand hitting California's recreational market. Paradiso is proudly independent and grown in the Salinas Valley. Flower is grown in greenhouses to harness the power of the sun. This allows their team to grow year round while protecting the resources we depend on.

Spending Valentine’s Day with Solstice Intimates

February 14, 2018
solstice intimates imcannabess

Roses are red, violets are blue. I'm getting lit today, how about you? This Valentine's Day, I'm lighting up in a sexy little set from Solstice Intimates.

I first stumbled upon Solstice Intimates via Instagram, when I saw their Sweet Jane velvet set. With my penchant for fashion, it's no surprise I fell in love. Velvet, fringe, mesh and lace (ok, and a few marijuana prints) make this company a cut above others when it comes to undergarments.

This team does amazing work, so I absolutely loved getting a BTS of their operation. Their flower is always so frosty (I mean, look at that nug on the drying rack!) and I am especially fond of their pheno hunts. Even after a decade in the industry, I am always blown away by beautiful farms like Freddy’s.

Who here has 💨 their 🍁? If so, share your experience below and fingers crossed for another pheno hunt event in the near future! 🤞🏼🌿 #cannabess

This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but bar This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but barely posted any of it. Why?

I found myself burnt out, uninspired in the industry and honestly, sick of staring at a screen. My hormones were totally out of whack and as a result, my hair kept falling out. I’d neglected my health and hated how I looked in photos. So in July, at the guidance of my naturopath, I did a 30-day detox. I quit my favorite plant cold turkey. Then my detox just kind of extended to 113 days. Honestly, the only reason I even smoked again was for a photo shoot (which I never even posted).

So anyway, here’s a recap of 2024 content that never made the feed. Maybe I’ll post more in the upcoming year, or maybe my energy is just shifting from pot to politics, where I’ve seen an insane amount of growth the last 365 days.

If you want to see what I’m doing outside of the industry, follow my personal page @BessByers where I am more active and who knows, maybe the break this year is the motivation I need for the next year? 🍁🤷🏻‍♀️📸 #Cannabess

So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easi So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easing back into the swing of things this weekend with one of my favorite infused beverages — @drinksungaze.

However, I like to add a little something extra to my drinks. The muddled strawberries give me flashbacks to the unlimited strawberry lemonade I would down at a popular burger joint as a kid.

I recommend Sungaze to EVERYONE (especially the strawberry citrus) because they are so tasty and the perfect micro dose. No joke. Loved ones who don’t consume say these help them sleep better at night. Friends who want a healthier alternative to wine have replaced their afterwork glass with a can of Sungaze. When I find myself in social settings where people day drink, I’ll bring these and be the last one standing.

If you’re in Washington, these are a must-try and in case you’re wondering… No, this isn’t sponsored. They’re just that good. 🍓🍋🍁 #cannabess

I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway. A coup I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway.

A couple months ago I went to a naturopath for some health issues. I suspected they could be lifestyle related so we had a ton of bloodwork done. During our meeting, I asked if weed could be the cause of these issues and my cannabis-friendly naturopath asked how often I consume it.

I was like, “Well, I like to smoke in the evenings before I workout. I also enjoy smoking when I clean the house, go hike or hang out with friends. And I consume a decent amount when I’m on a shoot.”

She looked at me like 😳😳😳.

Then she suggested maybe I do a THC detox. So I did. I put a date on my calendar and quit cold turkey. What started out as “No High July” extended into August and will probably continue until my next round of bloodwork.

I’m not quitting cannabis entirely and I will absolutely smoke again, but this whole experience made me rethink my relationship with this plant and be more mindful in my consumption.

When I posted about my cannabis detox on stories last month, I received a ton of inquiries so filmed a video answering all your questions. Click the link in my bio or head to my stories to watch why I quit smoking weed (for now). 🍃🙏🏼💚 #cannabess

Let’s talk burnout. This spring I found myself Let’s talk burnout.

This spring I found myself juggling multiple projects. Between political work, agency work and sponsored content, I was slammed. I love what I do and wish our bodies didn’t need downtime.

But after my grandma passed, I was on brink of burnout. At the end of my workday, I couldn’t even bring myself to stare at a screen. Shooting content for fun felt like a chore. I thought I looked tired in all my photos. Styling, setting up a camera and shooting? UGH. I’d wake up in the morning with anxiety at the *need* to post. I felt guilty at night for not editing photos. Then as the days progressed, I thought I needed some sort of “comeback.” When in reality, it didn’t matter.

On Sunday morning, Instagram deactivated and then reactivated my account (again). It was the creative spark I needed to use this audio I’ve had saved for months and share everything I’ve done while not posting.

So as my “comeback” here are three tips that helped me overcome burnout:

1. Focus on projects that matter most. For me, that’s my political and client work. It’s been hard to stay motivated with this account when it’s so heavily censored. My political content has gone viral lately, getting millions of views with reposts from people like Alex Jones and Jordan Peterson. Prioritizing what performs best made it easy to direct my energy there.

2. Make time for the things you love. For me, it’s been more time outdoors. I’ve done a lot of paddle boarding, swimming in the river and soaking in hot springs.

3. Remember, social media isn’t reality. You can take a break for a week, month, or year and come back anytime. Sure you might lose followers, but who cares. Peace of mind is more important than a number on an app. Your friends and followers will be excited to see you return. They’ll also understand that time offline is essential.

Has anyone else experienced burnout? I feel like it’s so common in this digitally connected world. If so, how did you beat it? 🧠🙏🏼💨 #Cannabess

Last night at 5PM my grandma Jenny Lorene Belleau Last night at 5PM my grandma Jenny Lorene Belleau Byers passed on to the afterlife. While I am sad she’s no longer physically with us, I’m crying tears of joy at all the memories we shared together.

And this was a special one. In 2019 I took her to Hashtag’s Guided Shopping for Seniors. As an avid gardener and garden club member, I couldn’t wait for her to experience the magic of this plant.

My grandma learned about everything from topicals to terpenes, and cannabinoids to canna brands. She was so excited and told all her friends about the experience.

The 🍃 industry has been full of memories, but this is one I will cherish forever. Ok, and the time she caught my cousin and I smoking in the garage on Christmas. The look on her face… Priceless.

To watch the whole video from our visit to Hashtag, click the link in my bio. And if you have a grandparent still alive, give them a big hug (or at least a phone call) today. 🤍🙏🏼🕊️ #cannabess

Wow, the response to yesterday’s story was overw Wow, the response to yesterday’s story was overwhelming. The number of women who shared their own experiences of bullying and mistreatment at the hands of other women in this industry is heartbreaking.

While there are certainly a few faces in this space that are unkind to others, there are also an overwhelming number of women in weed who are absolutely amazing. And I’m lucky to have connected with so many of them over the years.

So today I’m highlighting a few of the fabulous females I’ve photographed. From cozy cabins to calf-burning hikes, I am thankful to share unforgettable memories with these canna queens.

Ladies, let’s make some friends in the comments. Share where you are based and what activities you enjoy after consuming this plant! 🍁🙌🏼❤️ #cannabess

Accumulating wealth for yourself and your family isn’t greed.

Stealing wealth from some and redistributing it to others via government isn’t benevolence.

Trust no one telling you otherwise.

It's the failed criminal justice reform and tolerance for homeless fentanyl addicts pushed by far left politicians. Criminals are no longer held accountable for crimes and in cases like this, the perpetrator profits off it.
