It’s just another Mikoh Monday
Wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another Mikoh Monday

Summer is over, but my affinity for swimwear certainly isn’t. I browse bikinis year-round and one brand I love is Mikoh. No joke, I own four of their suits.

Tularosa Goes to Winthrop

September 22, 2017
tularosa nordstrom

Fall feels in fall fields. I'm not sure where summer went, but I'm keeping it alive this Fashion Friday. What better way to transition seasons than with a romper and boots?

I'm romping around in this Amelia Romper by Tularosa. Boots are the classic Hunter Boots, both from Nordstrom. All my rings and things are collected during various travels.

Passing the Dank at Diablo Lake

September 15, 2017
lake diablo

On our way home from Lazy Bee Gardens and after a pitstop at Washington Pass Overlook, we scoped the sights at one of my favorite lakes — Diablo Lake.

I almost missed this shot, mainly because we’d already taken 2,000 in 48 hours. But what’s a few more? I ran to the car and tossed on this set, which my friend and talented stylist Angie pulled for me. It’s a two-piece set from Leith, purchased at Nordstrom. The sunnies I practically live in. They’re the Morrow frame and can be purchased from Valley Eyewear.

Weed and Washington Pass Overlook

September 8, 2017
washington pass overlook imcannabess

It's Fashion Friday with one of my favorite shoots at my favorite locations — Washington Pass Overlook! If you've ever wondered what I look like at 7AM with zero makeup and unbrushed hair, well this is it. Keeping it au natural to keep one with nature.

After photographing Lazy Bee Gardens and en route to catch a flight in Seattle, we stopped at this scenic viewpoint. We trekked through the frosty woods and into the meadow as the sun slowly crept up behind Liberty Bell Mountain (that giant mountain in the background). It might've been 50 degrees outside, but it felt like 30 as I did a quick change in the elements. Gotta get the shot, right!?

Emerald Exchange 2017 Recap

September 7, 2017
emerald exchange

I recently attended a cannabis event unlike any other. Attendees relaxed in the wellness village, lit up in the hash lounge and noshed on The Herbal Chef’s five-course dinner. So where is this magical place? The Emerald Exchange.

Emerald Exchange highlights world class, sun-grown Northern California cannabis to the SoCal community. Some of my favorite vendors included Sunnabis, Foria, Papa & Barkley, Medicine Box, KIVA and Hummingbird Medicinals. Not only could you sample products, you could also purchase them! Clearly we’re not in Washington anymore…

High in the Hoh Rainforest

hoh rainforest

Part of being an adult means you can dress up for photo shoots in really rad locations. Lucky for me, the PNW has a plethora of picturesque photo spots, including North America's only rainforest — the Hoh Rainforest.

During my last trip to Falcanna, Bethany, Andrea and I did some exploring. We stumbled upon this mossy location and it felt like a scene from Game of Thrones. Throw in a vintage, floral dress and you can call me Cannabess, Queen of the Green.

Five Things You Don’t Want to Miss at the Emerald Exchange

July 24, 2017
emerald exchange ca

Travel to a land where medicine makers still flourish via the Emerald Exchange. This farmers market, educational conference and wellness festival is located in magical Malibu Canyon. The goal is to create a mindful dialogue while showcasing world class, sun-grown Northern California cannabis to the SoCal community.

I cannot wait to attend the Emerald Exchange on August 12th and 13th. Molly Peckler first introduced me to the event after her experience. She raved about the venue, vendors and overall vibe. No surprise, it’s been on my radar ever since. Looking at the lineup, it’s hard to decide what I’m most excited about. So here’s my top five things you don’t want to miss at Emerald Exchange.

Workout Wednesday — Betches and BBG

July 19, 2017
betches bikini body guide

It's no secret I love weed and workouts, but what's my routine? For the last two years I've toned up thanks to Kayla Itsines' Bikini Body Guide. These 28-minute workouts may look simple, but they will bust your butt and make you sweat.

Bikini Body Guide, also known as BBG, is a series of four seven-minute workouts. They are broken out into arms, legs, abs and full body. Each seven-minute sweat has four exercises including push-ups, lunges, crunches and more. Like I said, these workouts look easy, but Kayla's program is designed for women and it gets results. I am always so sore the day after my BBG.

Don’t go chasing waterfalls, unless it’s Twin Falls with your friends. I recently hiked this popular trail with Andrea and Masha, Evergreen Market’s Digital Coordinator, for a golden hour smoke sesh.

Masha interviewed me for Evergreen Market’s blog (read it here) so came along to shoot photos. We left Seattle on Sunday afternoon for another epic adventure. Fingers crossed for calm weather and nice light.

Sorry I'm stoned with Blunted Objects and Valfre in Venice Beach. We shot this Fashion Friday at one of my favorite smoke spots — the canals!

I met up with Melodie of Blunted Objects and my friend Dimi for a west side adventure. Melodie styled me in Blunted Objects' Tattoo Leaf Choker, Bud Leaf Cross Hand Chain, Frosty Leaf Filigree Hand Chain, Top Shelf Leaf Earrings and the Trinity Leaf Eyeglass Leash. Valfre's Sorry I'm Stoned shirt paired perfectly with black shorts and the silver accessories.

The year? 2016. I’d been in the legal industry nin The year? 2016. I’d been in the legal industry nine months, and this would mark my first full year in i502.

In February 2016, a Tinder date asked if people called me Cannabess. I said, “No, but they’re about to.”

I started my account a few days later and found it easy to grow an audience. Sure, Instagram had restrictions on *garden* content, but the timeline was chronological and they didn’t have AI flagging photos. Nug shots were a huge part of my feed, and I remember the first time one broke 500 likes. Then High Times shared my photos and I realized there might be something here.

That April, I’d go from working for a single farm, to working at a creative agency which allowed me to photograph one of the biggest grows in the state. I saw SO. MUCH. W33D. And social media loved it. I’d take pictures in the bloom rooms, holding massive bins, and tubs of pre-rolls. People weren’t used to seeing it. Repost pages would share my work and get thousands of likes.

I started to shoot more lifestyle content (which wasn’t really a thing then) and it opened even more doors. I smoked joints at the top of the mountains, next to lush waterfalls, basically anywhere I could. Friends and I would get dressed up to do editorials for fun. Then brands started to want lifestyle content as a way to break the stigma of the plant.

@LazyBeeGardens invited me to photograph their farm, and it was my first time seeing sun grown plants. The photos I shot here took my content to the next level and resulted in a repost from Tommy Chong. I couldn’t believe it.

2016 seems like just yesterday, but it also feels like a lifetime ago. I was only 29, getting ready to embark on the next decade, and a whole new chapter in life. I am forever thankful for the doors the industry opened and that part of my story. It’s wild to look back on and if the growth of the next decade is anything like the last, I can’t wait for what’s ahead. 🍁🙏🏼📸

In 2015, I found my career at a crossroads. I was In 2015, I found my career at a crossroads. I was already in politics and living in LA, when I got a job offer in a budding industry.

Do I move to DC and pursue politics or do I move back to my home state of Washington and jump into pot?

Everyone told me to go to DC, but @wilrbyers was the only one who said to get into the industry. “It’s recession proof,” he said.

Over the years my mom would say things like, “Do you ever think about if you’d gotten into politics?”

But the whole experience really showed how everything happens when the time is right. The industry opened so many doors, was a pivotal point in my career, and eventually led me back to politics.

How did you end up in the industry? 💁🏻‍♀️📸🌱 #cannabess

Your conspiracy theorist friend was right and you Your conspiracy theorist friend was right and you owe them an apology.

It’s kind of crazy to look back at COVID and realize all my predictions came true. The pandemic led to a massive increase in new government debt and an erosion of freedom. Masks didn’t work and vaccine mandates were next. The vaccine also didn’t work and had a slew of life-altering side effects. Medical segregation was wrong and should never have happened.

At the time, I remember being so distraught. I got put on a “Karen’s” page (most likely by women in weed) because I spoke out against mask mandates. Clients canceled contracts. I saw my income decline almost $10K a month. Thousands of people unfollowed me every time I spoke out. People emailed me to say they hope I got COVID and died. I lost best friends of decades and familial relationships will never be the same. And guess what? I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

In hindsight, the pandemic was the best thing that ever happened to me. It revealed peoples’ true authoritarian colors and opened the door for new, freedom-focused friendships. It led me from pot back to politics, where I am thriving. I look back at the pandemic and laugh because not only was I right, I also don’t have to worry about myocarditis.

I’ve had only one person apologize for their treatment of me during the pandemic, and it truly meant more than I can put into words. It’s not too late to apologize to your conspiracy theorist friend. So put your ego aside, pick up the phone, and say sorry.

This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but bar This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but barely posted any of it. Why?

I found myself burnt out, uninspired in the industry and honestly, sick of staring at a screen. My hormones were totally out of whack and as a result, my hair kept falling out. I’d neglected my health and hated how I looked in photos. So in July, at the guidance of my naturopath, I did a 30-day detox. I quit my favorite plant cold turkey. Then my detox just kind of extended to 113 days. Honestly, the only reason I even smoked again was for a photo shoot (which I never even posted).

So anyway, here’s a recap of 2024 content that never made the feed. Maybe I’ll post more in the upcoming year, or maybe my energy is just shifting from pot to politics, where I’ve seen an insane amount of growth the last 365 days.

If you want to see what I’m doing outside of the industry, follow my personal page @BessByers where I am more active and who knows, maybe the break this year is the motivation I need for the next year? 🍁🤷🏻‍♀️📸 #Cannabess

So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easing So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easing back into the swing of things this weekend with one of my favorite infused beverages — @drinksungaze.

However, I like to add a little something extra to my drinks. The muddled strawberries give me flashbacks to the unlimited strawberry lemonade I would down at a popular burger joint as a kid.

I recommend Sungaze to EVERYONE (especially the strawberry citrus) because they are so tasty and the perfect micro dose. No joke. Loved ones who don’t consume say these help them sleep better at night. Friends who want a healthier alternative to wine have replaced their afterwork glass with a can of Sungaze. When I find myself in social settings where people day drink, I’ll bring these and be the last one standing.

If you’re in Washington, these are a must-try and in case you’re wondering… No, this isn’t sponsored. They’re just that good. 🍓🍋🍁 #cannabess

Sounds like a good reason to decriminalize, so people can grow their own and not be dependent on corrupt, corporate cannabis Chads who never grew prior to legalization.
