BRNT Designs

June 15, 2019
brnt designs

What better way to kick off the weekend than a wake and bake with BRNT Designs? From the Hexagon ceramic water pipe to the Ascend concrete rolling tray, these products seamlessly fit into my mid-century home decor. It’s just one of many reasons I love their products.

The concept for BRNT Designs sparked in 2017. Founder Simon Grigenas found himself dissatisfied with fragile and stigma-loaded accessories on the Canadian cannabis market. BRNT grew out of a single crowdfunded campaign, and surpassed their original fundraising goal of $20,000 within a month.

Puffing Around the PNW with Panoptic Cannabis

May 24, 2019
panoptic cannabis

Panoptic, an adjective, means “showing or seeing the whole at one view.” Panoptic Cannabis is just that, cannabis for taking in the views.

If you’re like me, and you love to see the Pacific Northwest, Panoptic Cannabis is a must. Whether you’re looking for a mountain view or just a cabin in the woods, they’ve got a strain for every adventure.

Balboa Park’s Old Cactus Garden

May 17, 2019
balboa park cactus garden

If I could have any garden, besides a cannabis garden, I would want a huge cactus garden! Barbary figs, prickly pears and hedgehog cacti are just a few favorites I’d include in mine. It’s why I couldn’t wait to shoot at Balboa Park’s Old Cactus Garden.

Needless to say, the Old Cactus Garden is goals. From a giant ceres jamacaru to blue myrtle cacti, I couldn’t get enough of the desert vibe. It made me wish I could grow prickly plants like this outdoors in the PNW.

Cannabombz cbd bath bombs

Let’s be real, CBD is the latest beauty buzz. Topicals, creams, hair care and even bath bombs have people re-evaluating the healing power of this plant. But don’t be duped by flashy marketing, not all products are created equal. Cannabombz is a company I know and trust for CBD skincare. In my opinion, they make the best CBD bath bombs.

Cannabombz started in 2016. The founder Lindsey, a lifelong dancer, needed foot surgery. She turned to cannabis as an alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Hashtag Cannabis’ Guided Shopping for Seniors

May 7, 2019
hashtag cannabis

I recently had the opportunity to take my Grandma Jenny to her first pot shop. We attended Hashtag Cannabis’ Guided Shopping for Seniors. The event included an hour long discussion to educate attendees about cannabis, followed by a guided shopping experience in-store.

My Grandma Jenny has never smoked weed (as far as I know). However, she’s an avid gardener and expressed curiosity surrounding cannabis. I couldn’t wait to show her one of my favorite shops, in addition to many of the brands I work with.

The Pottery Los Angeles

April 17, 2019
the pottery los angeles

During my last trip to Los Angeles, I paid a visit to one of the prettiest shops I’ve seen — The Pottery. This posh pot shop looks more like a high-end home goods store. It’s certainly not what people envision when thinking of recreational weed. Alas, I couldn’t wait to see this place for myself.

When I walked in, the first thing I noticed is the chic decor. Geometric wall designs, modern tables and marble displays made cannabis look so relatable. Jonathan Adler stash jars and Malin + Goetz candles are just a couple examples of The Pottery’s luxurious accessories. Unfortunately for my wallet, I could see all of them on my bud cart!

mg Retailer’s Social Media Issue

April 15, 2019
mg Retailer magazine

mg Retailer recently asked me to participate in their Social Media Issue. While I knew this involved an interview and photoshoot, I never anticipated a cover. Social media is a big part of my cannabis career, and 2018 marked some milestones. As a result, I feel especially honored to be highlighted among such top talent.

The shoot took place at photographer James Banasiak’s LA apartment. Several mg Retailer staff attended, as well as accountant turned influencer, Teresa. We smoked a few joints, snapped photos and I struck a pose. Studio photos are some of my favorite, and I love how this set turned out.

Feel Elevated with Skullcandy

April 14, 2019
skullcandy headphones

There’s a lot of noise in the cannabis industry. It’s one reason I turn to Skullcandy. I recently partnered with them for their 12 Moods campaign and April’s mood is, you guessed it — ELEVATED.

In a world of basement dwellers, Skullcandy wants you to be elevated in their new Elevated Olive line. These Venue Noise Canceling Headphones do just the trick. They feature Active Noise Cancelation (perfect for loud gardens or labs), Bluetooth Wireless, 24 hours of battery life and best of all, Tile’s Find Your Headphones feature for those stoney moments you misplace them. As if the features aren’t enough, this month’s mood also comes with an elevated accessory bud kit for all life’s, ahem, essentials.

Stiiizy Washington

April 8, 2019
stiiizy washington

From SoCal to the PNW, I am pumped about the new Stiiizy Washington pods. To celebrate, Mandee and went to the Cascades for a mountain adventure. From snowy trails to cabin hot tubs, we couldn’t get enough of these flavorful pods.

After stocking up on Stiizy pods at Fweedom, our trip started at one of my favorite places, Steven’s Pass. I love everything about this location — the mountain, the snowboarding, the trails and of course, the scenic views. We popped in the first Stiizy pod, Sour Tangie. I especially love citrus strains, and Sour Tangie provided the sativa kick needed to start our shoot.

This team does amazing work, so I absolutely loved getting a BTS of their operation. Their flower is always so frosty (I mean, look at that nug on the drying rack!) and I am especially fond of their pheno hunts. Even after a decade in the industry, I am always blown away by beautiful farms like Freddy’s.

Who here has 💨 their 🍁? If so, share your experience below and fingers crossed for another pheno hunt event in the near future! 🤞🏼🌿 #cannabess

This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but bar This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but barely posted any of it. Why?

I found myself burnt out, uninspired in the industry and honestly, sick of staring at a screen. My hormones were totally out of whack and as a result, my hair kept falling out. I’d neglected my health and hated how I looked in photos. So in July, at the guidance of my naturopath, I did a 30-day detox. I quit my favorite plant cold turkey. Then my detox just kind of extended to 113 days. Honestly, the only reason I even smoked again was for a photo shoot (which I never even posted).

So anyway, here’s a recap of 2024 content that never made the feed. Maybe I’ll post more in the upcoming year, or maybe my energy is just shifting from pot to politics, where I’ve seen an insane amount of growth the last 365 days.

If you want to see what I’m doing outside of the industry, follow my personal page @BessByers where I am more active and who knows, maybe the break this year is the motivation I need for the next year? 🍁🤷🏻‍♀️📸 #Cannabess

So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easi So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easing back into the swing of things this weekend with one of my favorite infused beverages — @drinksungaze.

However, I like to add a little something extra to my drinks. The muddled strawberries give me flashbacks to the unlimited strawberry lemonade I would down at a popular burger joint as a kid.

I recommend Sungaze to EVERYONE (especially the strawberry citrus) because they are so tasty and the perfect micro dose. No joke. Loved ones who don’t consume say these help them sleep better at night. Friends who want a healthier alternative to wine have replaced their afterwork glass with a can of Sungaze. When I find myself in social settings where people day drink, I’ll bring these and be the last one standing.

If you’re in Washington, these are a must-try and in case you’re wondering… No, this isn’t sponsored. They’re just that good. 🍓🍋🍁 #cannabess

I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway. A coup I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway.

A couple months ago I went to a naturopath for some health issues. I suspected they could be lifestyle related so we had a ton of bloodwork done. During our meeting, I asked if weed could be the cause of these issues and my cannabis-friendly naturopath asked how often I consume it.

I was like, “Well, I like to smoke in the evenings before I workout. I also enjoy smoking when I clean the house, go hike or hang out with friends. And I consume a decent amount when I’m on a shoot.”

She looked at me like 😳😳😳.

Then she suggested maybe I do a THC detox. So I did. I put a date on my calendar and quit cold turkey. What started out as “No High July” extended into August and will probably continue until my next round of bloodwork.

I’m not quitting cannabis entirely and I will absolutely smoke again, but this whole experience made me rethink my relationship with this plant and be more mindful in my consumption.

When I posted about my cannabis detox on stories last month, I received a ton of inquiries so filmed a video answering all your questions. Click the link in my bio or head to my stories to watch why I quit smoking weed (for now). 🍃🙏🏼💚 #cannabess

Let’s talk burnout. This spring I found myself Let’s talk burnout.

This spring I found myself juggling multiple projects. Between political work, agency work and sponsored content, I was slammed. I love what I do and wish our bodies didn’t need downtime.

But after my grandma passed, I was on brink of burnout. At the end of my workday, I couldn’t even bring myself to stare at a screen. Shooting content for fun felt like a chore. I thought I looked tired in all my photos. Styling, setting up a camera and shooting? UGH. I’d wake up in the morning with anxiety at the *need* to post. I felt guilty at night for not editing photos. Then as the days progressed, I thought I needed some sort of “comeback.” When in reality, it didn’t matter.

On Sunday morning, Instagram deactivated and then reactivated my account (again). It was the creative spark I needed to use this audio I’ve had saved for months and share everything I’ve done while not posting.

So as my “comeback” here are three tips that helped me overcome burnout:

1. Focus on projects that matter most. For me, that’s my political and client work. It’s been hard to stay motivated with this account when it’s so heavily censored. My political content has gone viral lately, getting millions of views with reposts from people like Alex Jones and Jordan Peterson. Prioritizing what performs best made it easy to direct my energy there.

2. Make time for the things you love. For me, it’s been more time outdoors. I’ve done a lot of paddle boarding, swimming in the river and soaking in hot springs.

3. Remember, social media isn’t reality. You can take a break for a week, month, or year and come back anytime. Sure you might lose followers, but who cares. Peace of mind is more important than a number on an app. Your friends and followers will be excited to see you return. They’ll also understand that time offline is essential.

Has anyone else experienced burnout? I feel like it’s so common in this digitally connected world. If so, how did you beat it? 🧠🙏🏼💨 #Cannabess

Last night at 5PM my grandma Jenny Lorene Belleau Last night at 5PM my grandma Jenny Lorene Belleau Byers passed on to the afterlife. While I am sad she’s no longer physically with us, I’m crying tears of joy at all the memories we shared together.

And this was a special one. In 2019 I took her to Hashtag’s Guided Shopping for Seniors. As an avid gardener and garden club member, I couldn’t wait for her to experience the magic of this plant.

My grandma learned about everything from topicals to terpenes, and cannabinoids to canna brands. She was so excited and told all her friends about the experience.

The 🍃 industry has been full of memories, but this is one I will cherish forever. Ok, and the time she caught my cousin and I smoking in the garage on Christmas. The look on her face… Priceless.

Wow, the response to yesterday’s story was overw Wow, the response to yesterday’s story was overwhelming. The number of women who shared their own experiences of bullying and mistreatment at the hands of other women in this industry is heartbreaking.

While there are certainly a few faces in this space that are unkind to others, there are also an overwhelming number of women in weed who are absolutely amazing. And I’m lucky to have connected with so many of them over the years.

So today I’m highlighting a few of the fabulous females I’ve photographed. From cozy cabins to calf-burning hikes, I am thankful to share unforgettable memories with these canna queens.

Ladies, let’s make some friends in the comments. Share where you are based and what activities you enjoy after consuming this plant! 🍁🙌🏼❤️ #cannabess

Accumulating wealth for yourself and your family isn’t greed.

Stealing wealth from some and redistributing it to others via government isn’t benevolence.

Trust no one telling you otherwise.

It's the failed criminal justice reform and tolerance for homeless fentanyl addicts pushed by far left politicians. Criminals are no longer held accountable for crimes and in cases like this, the perpetrator profits off it.
