Smoke and Soak in Bond-Eye Swim

January 28, 2024
Bond-Eye Swim at Scenic Hot Springs

Why I love Bond-Eye Swim

I love swimwear. In fact, love is an understatement. It’s an essential part of my wardrobe. I buy at least two swimsuits a summer and have a whole bin full of bikinis. Skimpy bottoms, sequins, vintage mesh and so much more. However, I’m also quite a stickler when it comes to my water wear. I am known to scour the web for hours in search of the perfect suit. So when I first learned of Bond-Eye Swim and their one-size-fits-all approach, you could color me skeptical.

I’m a small-chested gal. Would a stretchy suit work on my body? The models ranged in size and one seemed to match my dimensions, so I figured why not? Well… LET. ME. TELL. YOU.

Bond-Eye Swim instantly became one of my favorite swimwear brands. The first thing I notice is how incredibly soft the material is. It feels like butter. In the summer, I practically live in my Sydney top and Sinner bottoms, shown here. But what I love most is how well this suit holds up for all my outdoor activities — white water rafting, hikes to hot springs, paddleboarding, gardening, and more.

My 2023 New Years Eve Recap

December 31, 2023
new years eve shoot

Reflecting on 2023 for New Years Eve

How is it New Years Eve 2023 already? Heck, 2020 seems like just yesterday. Time really is flying by. As I reflect on the past year, I feel so blessed.

2020 and 2021 left me exhausted. In 2022, I moved to the mountains. In 2023, I reconnected with my creativity, spent time in nature, worked with some of my favorite brands, and expanded my video editing knowledge.

I look back at the last 365 days and feel really accomplished. I’m ending my year on a high note, and I look forward to what 2024 has in store.

Full-spectrum storage with Tulip’s cannabis lock box

How does a woman living in an illegal state sandwiched between two legal ones travel from hike to hike in confidence? I keep my stash stored safely in Tulip, a cannabis lock box.

It has everything I need for my mountain adventures. Flower jars come with Boveda cannabis humidity packs, doob tubes, a rolling tray, and compartments galore for my OCD organized ways. Seriously, I love how my Tulip box looks when it’s fully stocked.

Stop and Smell the Wildflowers

Idaho wildflowers photo shoot

Don’t just smell the wildflowers, smoke them too

Do you ever meet friends on Instagram and they turn out to be just as wonderful in real life? I have, and can’t wait to share the story of my wildflowers photo shoot with the talented Justin Krompier. Justin shoots predominantly landscape and lifestyle photos, but his portraits of wanderbabes in the mountains caught my eye. So when he and his van were just passin’ through Wallace,  I jumped at the chance to work together.

One of the things I love best about living in the mountains is the abundance of wildflowers. From May through September colors change from white and yellow to pink and purple. Flowers like foxglove, daisies, lupine and wild sweet pea cover the hills. I’ve tried lifestyle content with my camera on a tripod, but it’s never the same as working with a photographer, especially when it comes to cannabis content. So for this shoot, I knew exactly the hill for the perfect golden hour light.

Why the Pandemic Pushed Me From Pot to Politics

May 11, 2023
pot to politics

The pandemic made me question my place in pot so I joined the team at Reason

COVID is officially over. Last month President Biden signed a resolution to terminate the national emergency related to the pandemic and just days ago the World Health Organization declared an end to the global health emergency. After three years it’s beginning to look like life before COVID, but for many people life has changed forever. I’m one of those people.

During Covid, I saw the cannabis community I know and love transform into something I never fathomed. It’s no secret I was skeptical of government mandates. However, the backlash I faced for speaking up broke my spirit. The wrath of cancel culture impacted my income. I watched women bully women for beliefs in medical freedom. I felt anxiety every time I opened social media. I simply couldn’t do this anymore.

The pandemic and subsequent erosion of freedom made me feel like I need to use my voice for more. I set a goal to get at least one paid gig in the political realm and it turned out to be so much more. In September 2021, I went from pot to politics and joined the team at Reason.

What’s perfect for rolling and packs a punch? No, it’s not my friend Courtney’s VW Beetle. It’s Budmaster’s terpene-infused blunt wraps and cones!

We recently rolled around Richland for a very groovy afternoon. As someone who packs a lot of cones, I couldn’t wait to give Budmaster a try. These smooth, slow-burning papers elevate any trip, even if it’s just around your hometown.

Take a Tour of Mt. Baker Gardens

A while back I found myself specifically not allowed at an i502 event. I was so bummed because after more than year of COVID, I looked forward to connecting with the cannabis community again. When I posted about my experience on social media, Mt. Baker Gardens, one of the event’s sponsors, reached out. They didn’t know about this treatment so extended an offer to come tour their facility.

I’ve met the Mt. Baker Gardens team at past events and always enjoyed their energy, so gladly accepted the offer. This indoor grow produces award-winning flower, pre-rolls, infused pre-rolls and concentrates. However, if you smoke solventless extracts, their hash rosin is a must-try. Paris Cannabis Co’s Light Up Halloweed Party

Over the last seven years, I’ve attended my fair share of cannabis events. Only a few have been blasé and most are a great time. But then there’s events like Paris Cannabis Co‘s Light Up Halloweed party, which will go down as one for the books.

Location is everything and I loved their Halloween decor. Good beats from DJ Sarkis Mikael set the vibe. A high quality guest list brought positive energy. And finally, no event is complete without a ton of cannabis. I connected with several Washington brands and lots of wonderful humans, for an all around unforgettable evening.

Here’s why I’m not falling for this propaganda Here’s why I’m not falling for this propaganda:

- Politicians repeatedly promise to reschedule prior to elections. It’s a manipulative campaign tactic. But this plant doesn’t need to be rescheduled, which would mean it’s now regulated by the FDA and still controlled by the government, it needs to be descheduled because it should’ve never been illegal in the first place.

- The Rockefeller’s lobbied to make raw milk illegal because they owned the pasteurization technology.

- Botox paralyzes your lymphatic system and carries a black box warning label. Just like any muscles, when you don’t use them, you lose them. This applies to your face as well and people then need to inject more Botox to maintain the same effect. Wrinkles are natural. A frozen face is not.

- There is little evidence that a “chemical imbalance” causes depression and SSRIs can have debilitating withdrawal symptoms. They also have a slew of side-effects.

- If climate change is such a threat, why did Obama buy an $11 million mansion at sea level? Why are politicians who fear monger about the environment flying around in private jets to push this? The climate is always changing.

- S€x w0rk is the commodification of women’s bodies and is paid r@pe.

- Both Democrats and Republicans perpetuate war, debt and the erosion of freedom.

- Eating cultured animal cells grown with chemicals in a petri dish isn’t animal flesh, even if people try and say it’s “molecularly identical to conventional meat.”

Your conspiracy theorist friend was right and you Your conspiracy theorist friend was right and you owe them an apology.

It’s kind of crazy to look back at COVID and realize all my predictions came true. The pandemic led to a massive increase in new government debt and an erosion of freedom. Masks didn’t work and vaccine mandates were next. The vaccine also didn’t work and had a slew of life-altering side effects. Medical segregation was wrong and should never have happened.

At the time, I remember being so distraught. I got put on a “Karen’s” page (most likely by women in weed) because I spoke out against mask mandates. Clients canceled contracts. I saw my income decline almost $10K a month. Thousands of people unfollowed me every time I spoke out. People emailed me to say they hope I got COVID and died. I lost best friends of decades and familial relationships will never be the same. And guess what? I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

In hindsight, the pandemic was the best thing that ever happened to me. It revealed peoples’ true authoritarian colors and opened the door for new, freedom-focused friendships. It led me from pot back to politics, where I am thriving. I look back at the pandemic and laugh because not only was I right, I also don’t have to worry about myocarditis.

I’ve had only one person apologize for their treatment of me during the pandemic, and it truly meant more than I can put into words. It’s not too late to apologize to your conspiracy theorist friend. So put your ego aside, pick up the phone, and say sorry.

This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but bar This year I shot a lot of cannabis content but barely posted any of it. Why?

I found myself burnt out, uninspired in the industry and honestly, sick of staring at a screen. My hormones were totally out of whack and as a result, my hair kept falling out. I’d neglected my health and hated how I looked in photos. So in July, at the guidance of my naturopath, I did a 30-day detox. I quit my favorite plant cold turkey. Then my detox just kind of extended to 113 days. Honestly, the only reason I even smoked again was for a photo shoot (which I never even posted).

So anyway, here’s a recap of 2024 content that never made the feed. Maybe I’ll post more in the upcoming year, or maybe my energy is just shifting from pot to politics, where I’ve seen an insane amount of growth the last 365 days.

If you want to see what I’m doing outside of the industry, follow my personal page @BessByers where I am more active and who knows, maybe the break this year is the motivation I need for the next year? 🍁🤷🏻‍♀️📸 #Cannabess

So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easi So, my 30 day detox turned into 90, but I’m easing back into the swing of things this weekend with one of my favorite infused beverages — @drinksungaze.

However, I like to add a little something extra to my drinks. The muddled strawberries give me flashbacks to the unlimited strawberry lemonade I would down at a popular burger joint as a kid.

I recommend Sungaze to EVERYONE (especially the strawberry citrus) because they are so tasty and the perfect micro dose. No joke. Loved ones who don’t consume say these help them sleep better at night. Friends who want a healthier alternative to wine have replaced their afterwork glass with a can of Sungaze. When I find myself in social settings where people day drink, I’ll bring these and be the last one standing.

If you’re in Washington, these are a must-try and in case you’re wondering… No, this isn’t sponsored. They’re just that good. 🍓🍋🍁 #cannabess

I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway. A coup I quit smoking weed. Well, for now anyway.

A couple months ago I went to a naturopath for some health issues. I suspected they could be lifestyle related so we had a ton of bloodwork done. During our meeting, I asked if weed could be the cause of these issues and my cannabis-friendly naturopath asked how often I consume it.

I was like, “Well, I like to smoke in the evenings before I workout. I also enjoy smoking when I clean the house, go hike or hang out with friends. And I consume a decent amount when I’m on a shoot.”

She looked at me like 😳😳😳.

Then she suggested maybe I do a THC detox. So I did. I put a date on my calendar and quit cold turkey. What started out as “No High July” extended into August and will probably continue until my next round of bloodwork.

I’m not quitting cannabis entirely and I will absolutely smoke again, but this whole experience made me rethink my relationship with this plant and be more mindful in my consumption.

When I posted about my cannabis detox on stories last month, I received a ton of inquiries so filmed a video answering all your questions. Click the link in my bio or head to my stories to watch why I quit smoking weed (for now). 🍃🙏🏼💚 #cannabess

Let’s talk burnout. This spring I found myself Let’s talk burnout.

This spring I found myself juggling multiple projects. Between political work, agency work and sponsored content, I was slammed. I love what I do and wish our bodies didn’t need downtime.

But after my grandma passed, I was on brink of burnout. At the end of my workday, I couldn’t even bring myself to stare at a screen. Shooting content for fun felt like a chore. I thought I looked tired in all my photos. Styling, setting up a camera and shooting? UGH. I’d wake up in the morning with anxiety at the *need* to post. I felt guilty at night for not editing photos. Then as the days progressed, I thought I needed some sort of “comeback.” When in reality, it didn’t matter.

On Sunday morning, Instagram deactivated and then reactivated my account (again). It was the creative spark I needed to use this audio I’ve had saved for months and share everything I’ve done while not posting.

So as my “comeback” here are three tips that helped me overcome burnout:

1. Focus on projects that matter most. For me, that’s my political and client work. It’s been hard to stay motivated with this account when it’s so heavily censored. My political content has gone viral lately, getting millions of views with reposts from people like Alex Jones and Jordan Peterson. Prioritizing what performs best made it easy to direct my energy there.

2. Make time for the things you love. For me, it’s been more time outdoors. I’ve done a lot of paddle boarding, swimming in the river and soaking in hot springs.

3. Remember, social media isn’t reality. You can take a break for a week, month, or year and come back anytime. Sure you might lose followers, but who cares. Peace of mind is more important than a number on an app. Your friends and followers will be excited to see you return. They’ll also understand that time offline is essential.

Has anyone else experienced burnout? I feel like it’s so common in this digitally connected world. If so, how did you beat it? 🧠🙏🏼💨 #Cannabess

It's the failed criminal justice reform and tolerance for homeless fentanyl addicts pushed by far left politicians. Criminals are no longer held accountable for crimes and in cases like this, the perpetrator profits off it.
