Washington Politicians Want to Ban Cannabis Concentrates

All the State’s Problems Have Been Solved, So Politicians Now Target Cannabis Concentrates

Politicians who don’t understand cannabis concentrates are attempting to regulate cannabis concentrates, and this time it’s happening in Washington State. You won’t believe these bills.

HB 1641 is an act to address the public health challenges of high-potency cannabis products.

Ironic since politicians ignore downtown Seattle’s open air Fentanyl market.

The real crisis here is a plant that employs thousands of people and generates billions in tax revenue.

HB1641 creates a 35% tax on concentrates with less than 35% THC, a 50% tax on concentrates between 35 and 60% THC, and imposes a 65% tax on concentrates over 60% THC. This tax is separate from state and local taxes.

The bill prohibits marketing and advertising of concentrates, including social media, for any products with more than 35% THC.

But alcohol ads are ok, even though alcohol-related deaths kill 140,000 Americans each year.

And finally, the bill prohibits the sale of cannabis concentrates over 35% THC to anyone under the age of 25. Which brings me to our next bill.

HB 1642 addresses the “serious physical and behavioral health consequences of high-potency cannabis.”

Again, ironic considering Washington State gives out taxpayer-funded needles for heroin addicts.

The bill says retail outlets may not sell cannabis concentrates with more than 35% THC unless those shops hold a medical endorsement, and of those, they can only sell to qualifying patients with a valid medical card.

Both bills are sponsored by three Republicans and nine Democrats, which is a prime example why politicians have no business regulating cannabis.
