On Instagram’s release date October 6, 2010, only five states allowed medical cannabis consumption. As we approach Instagram’s eighth birthday, laws have changed and legalization has gone global. The only place legalization is not happening is on Instagram. As a way to make our community heard, I ask everyone to participate in #CannabisBlackoutDay on October 6.

If you’re a cannabis company, publisher, photographer or advocate on Instagram, you are all-too-familiar with their vague Terms of Service. Posts get deleted for violating the rules. Pages are deactivated without notice. Sometimes they’re reinstated claiming the deactivation “happened by mistake” while other times pages don’t come back at all. It’s infuriating and needs to change. So how can you help?

I recently visited Las Vegas for a girlfriend’s 30th birthday. This trip not only marked an important milestone for my friend, but also for myself. It’s the first time I’ve been to Vegas since Nevada went rec, which is why I couldn’t wait to check out Blum Las Vegas!

Western fashion is big this season, and I mean big. Chanel, Coach and Vetements are just a few brands hopping on the wild west bandwagon. So when I made my latest trip to Lazy Bee Gardens, knew what I wanted to shoot for Fashion Friday.

Now let me preface. If you haven’t been to Winthrop, this town feels like a time hop. It’s in the middle of nowhere (cell reception and wifi are practically nonexistent) and the entire downtown looks like a movie set. With the return of western fashion, I couldn’t wait to throw on a wide brimmed hat, thigh high boots and of course, enough silver to sink a ship.

I grew up in a family of gardeners. Both my grandmas are in garden club and my mom’s garden would give most a run for their money. However, after visiting this home grow, I’ve found my new garden goals — cannabis.

I can’t go into much detail about this grow or its location, but will emphasize it’s for medical use. The story surrounding these plants is heartfelt and I hope to someday share. These plants remind me that while cannabis is recreational, it’s also medicine for millions. It’s medicine some people would risk their freedom for.

Smoke Like a Mermaid in Mary Jane Swim

“I feel like a mermaid!” I called out to Keti while balancing on a rock and smoking a joint. As we looked around, it certainly felt like a movie scene. The tranquil blue water, mossy rocks and Mary Jane Swim would’ve made even Ariel ditch Price Eric to hit the joint.

Keti and I recently hiked one of my favorite locations, Denny Creek. I love this location for its mellow incline and lush trees, but most of all, the geology surrounding it all — waterfalls, boulders and rocks softened after years of erosion. I knew this spot would be perfect for Mary Jane Swim.

On an overcast August Saturday, ladies from Washington’s weed scene gathered at Golden Gardens to have a party. Guests puffed joints by A List Cannabis, packed bowls in BRNT accessories and noshed infused dips by OLEO. This clearly isn’t just any party, it’s a Flower Power Beach Party!

I’ll be honest, the morning of this event I woke up in a funk. I’d been dealing with an Instagram deactivation and to top it off, had my car broken into the night before. Retrograde reared its ugly head and I felt the wrath. Alas, I shed a few tears, took a dab and threw on my romper because it’s party time.

Take a Hike on the Wildside

Take a hike on the Wildside with Green Revolution's new cannabis beverages! I'm always on the trails, so these drinks make it easy to stay high and hydrated. This trail is one of my favorites — the lush, cool, Boulder River Falls.

Our adventure kicked off summer with a little Summer Peach. We sipped this sparkling fruit drink while trekking up the mossy trail and diving under trees. After a few inclines and a couple more declines, we found ourselves at one of my favorite Washington waterfalls. Despite being in the forest, temps still lingered in the low-80's. So I sipped some Mango Tropical Storm and went for a swim.

Instagram Deleted My Cannabis Account Nine Times

On Wednesday, August, 1 around 6:30 PM I logged in to find something no content creator wants to find — their cannabis Instagram deleted. A wave of emotions washed over me from extreme sadness to the ultimate rage. After taking more dabs than I could count, I knew tears wouldn’t fix this fiasco, so I took action to get my account reinstated.

First, I let people know of the deactivation. With multiple campaigns this month, I couldn’t afford a moment of downtime. I shared Instagram’s notification on my personal account, Facebook, Twitter and even LinkedIn.
