This Thanksgiving marks my first working in i502. Enjoy my photos from last weekend's Friendsgiving hosted by the lovely Zach and Nicole Brennan, as I reflect on everything I'm grateful for.

Boots, Buds and Vance Creek Bridge

October 19, 2015

Fifty pairs of boots, thirty vintage jackets, eight half-gram joints, four models, two outfits each and one northwest bridge went into last Friday’s photo adventure. Western Cultured collaborated with Fauxy Furr Vintage to shoot its first ever editorial at Vance Creek Bridge.

Fauxy Furr Vintage specializes in boots, furs and wool jackets. The company started in 2005 as a resale booth at local markets and expanded nationwide thanks to Etsy. Chrysta Colebourn, founder, describes Fauxy Furr Vintage as, “boho meets glam.”

High at Mount Pilchuck

September 8, 2015

Last night the Western Cultured crew hiked Mount Pilchuck to watch the super moon eclipse. This hike has been on our radar, so what better location to watch an eclipse rise?

Mount Pilchuck is a stunning hike. The geology, pun intended, rocks. Leaves have started to turn orange, adding pops of color to an otherwise green trail. The elevation isn't realized until you come around the last bend and see granite cliffs. Even still, we pushed the envelope and climbed to the furthest peak, unsure if the pit in our stomachs was vertigo or a strong connection to mother nature.

La Push it Real Good

August 22, 2015

La Push, Wash. is so remote, we went three days without cell reception. This allowed for long talks, late nights, afternoon hikes, sunset surfs and smoking a ton of Western Cultured pre-rolls. When you're off the grid, you get to know people.

We spent our days lounging at Second Beach and Third Beach. Large driftwood warmed by the sun was perfect for naps. When the guys weren't catching waves, they were catching fish, which fed our crew both nights. We built a massive bonfire, danced, watched the stars and felt appreciative for moments like these.

Slightly Stoopid and Stick Figure at Marymoor Park

August 5, 2015

Smokin’ Love, Collie Man, Fat Spliffs and Burning Ocean — if you listen to reggae, you’re no stranger to these classics. Two of my favorite bands, Stick Figure and Slightly Stoopid, performed at Marymoor Park last night, and Western Cultured gave both bands a very northwest welcome, with bags of SeaTown Lemon Haze.

Stick Figure opened the show. My cousin K-Bong crushed it on the keyboard, Kevin jammed on bass and Kyle, from Slightly Stoopid, joined the Scott for a duet. The crowd sang K-Bong happy birthday, since he turned 30 a few days before. No Stick Figure concert is complete without an appearance from Cocoa the Tour Dog, who happily lounged on stage.

Cannabess Hikes Lake Blanca

July 6, 2015
lake blanca

While most people recover after Independence Day, I hit the trail to hike Lake Blanca. This blue beauty has been on my bucket list and nothing, not even a patriotic hangover, could hold me back.

I arrived at the trailhead around 9 AM and temperatures already topped the 80's. The 3300-foot incline felt like forever. Sweat dripped into my eyes. I pushed onward, encouraged others and eventually made trail friends with some equally hungover hikers.

Whidbey Island for Western Cultured

June 1, 2015

Here’s to the peaks and valleys, friends both new and old, long hikes and late nights, big talk and small talk, and the adventures that lie ahead. For whatever is up next we’ll be there to light up the moment. Enjoy the finest craft flower, cultured in the land where it all began.

The Western Cultured crew spent Thursday evening on Whidbey Island. We grilled oysters, roasted marshmellows, played fetch with the dogs, took over five hundred photos, smoked joint after joint and made unforgettable memories.

Strain Spotlight — Super Lemon Haze by Western Cultured

May 27, 2015

If you could only smoke one strain for the rest of your life, what strain would you choose? For me, I’d pick something energizing, citrus flavored and filled with aroma. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is for Super Lemon Haze by Western Cultured!

Super Lemon Haze, also dubbed SLH, is a classic sativa. This strain is widely known for its popular genetics, Super Silver Haze crossed with Lemon Skunk. Any good SLH will have a strong lemon aroma when you open the bag.

Lake Olallie with Western Cultured and Liz

May 24, 2015

Foggy forests, serene streams and Western Cultured cannabis — these are a few of our favorite things. Liz and I elevated our holiday weekend with a hike to Lake Olallie in the Cascade Mountains.

One of our favorite things is to hike in the rain. You see the forest the way it’s meant to be – lush. No need to pack an umbrella. The trees provide a canopy to keep hikers dry.

This is the story of a girl named Bess, and her se This is the story of a girl named Bess, and her sesh starts with @budlovemixer!

Do you ever mix other herbs with your favorite flower? I love to create herbal blends with my cannabis consumption. The combination of terpenes not only gives your hit a unique flavor, it also provides a more calming high. So when Bud Love asked me to try their new herbal mixer, I couldn’t wait to experience how it makes bud better.

Bud Love is made up of marshmallow leaf, which is an ancient medicinal herb, CBG and terpenes. There is no nicotine in these blends and it is NOTHING like spice. To help you spark assured, all ingredients and finished products are lab tested.

I enjoy Bud Love to help me unwind after a long day. It also extends the life of my stash. Their color-coded packaging helps you pick the right strain to pair with their herbal blends for a high you can customize.

Use code Byers15 to get 15% off your Bud Love order. Click the link in bio to see more from this set and if you’ve tried Bud Love, let me know what you think in the comments! 🌼🍁✨ #cannabess

Unusually I hate the cold but this year I not only embraced it, I loved it. I spent more days on the mountain this season than I ever have, and it felt amazing. Fresh powder, tree runs and lots of trees mean the whole day is the good part!

Now who’s ready for spring trail skates and stand up paddleboarding!? 🍁🏔️🏂 #cannabess

I’m baaaaaaaaaaack! On Wednesday morning I woke I’m baaaaaaaaaaack! On Wednesday morning I woke to find something no cannabis creator wants — their Instagram profile deleted a TENTH time.

It’s been over five years since I last battled IG over their inconsistent Terms of Service. Even with 38 states having passed medical or recreational laws, it’s still a reminder what our community is up against.

Shortly after my first deactivation I started a petition to Instagram asking they update their TOS. This petition has recently been given renewed life thanks to dedicated individuals like @cannabis.connoisseur.007 who encourage people to sign and advocates for change on social media by appealing to Meta’s @oversightboard. The petition currently has over 43,000 signatures and our next major milestone is 50K. Tap the link in bio to sign the petition and make your voice heard.

So what’s next? Yesterday I emailed Instagram’s press department asking for a statement on the petition and inconsistencies surrounding their enforcement. The next step is writing a letter to @mosseri, Head of Instagram, asking he work with the cannabis community to establish clear guidelines which will help prevent accounts from being wrongly deleted. If you have any other ideas, please share them in the comments below.

Have you been deleted by Instagram? If so, what did you do to get your account back? If you didn’t, how did you cope and respond? And what do you think triggers deactivations? Is it AI, a hater flagging posts or something else? Share your thoughts and definitely tap the link in bio to sign the petition. 🍁📱 #cannabess

Today marks seven years since I started my #Cannab Today marks seven years since I started my #Cannabess account and what a wild ride it’s been!

From farm tours to playing dress up, and clients who trust my creative vision, I am beyond thankful for the memories made while incorporating this plant. Best of all, I’ve connected with so many amazing females along the way.

But the last seven years haven’t always been nugs and roses. Cancel culture, COVID group think, and a few catty encounters made me seriously reconsider if this is a space I want to be in. While I’ve taken a step back the last year to focus on political projects, my passion for this plant still burns hotter than a dab nail.

I never anticipated turning cannabis into a career. It all started as one Instagram account to highlight my photography and morphed into something beyond my wildest dreams. Cannabis has allowed me to travel the world, work remote and create a business unheard of until recently. I mean seriously, who makes “cannabis photographer” a job? This woman right here.

So thank you cannabis community for the last seven years. I look forward to the next seven more. When did you start following my account? What shoot has been your favorite? And what would you like to see next? 🌿🙏🏼💚 #cannabess

A very fitting #FlashbackFriday as I shot this set A very fitting #FlashbackFriday as I shot this set over a year ago. In fact, I'm sitting on at least (counts in head) six or seven looks from the last year I simply never got around to editing and publishing. But I'll share more about that later...

In the interim, here's a snowy smoke sesh at Snoqualmie Pass, which I'm crossing today for a week in western Washington. What brands or products should I stock up on while I'm back in a legal state? 🍁🏔️💨 #cannabess

At least 61 people have died of fentanyl overdoses At least 61 people have died of fentanyl overdoses in King County as of this year. Seattle saw 739 shootings resulting in 38 deaths in 2022. And last year, the county distributed over 10,000 kits of naloxone and about 100,000 fentanyl test strips. But Washington State politicians think the real problem is cannabis concentrates, so they’ve set out to regulate them.

HB 1641 and HB 1642 are bills pertaining to the “public health challenges of high-potency cannabis products.” The bills tax concentrates based on THC percentage, ban advertising of concentrates above 35% THC and restrict the sale of “high-potency” extracts to medical patients over the age of 25.

Yes, the greatest threat to our state is a plant. This plant, per the state’s own data, has not killed A SINGLE PERSON. It employs thousands of people and generates billions in tax revenue. It is truly a threat and must be stopped!

I am obviously being sarcastic, but in all seriousness, politicians who don’t understand cannabis have no business regulating cannabis. So tap the link in my bio to read more, then contact Washington state reps and tell them to stop targeting a peaceful plant and focus on real peoblems in the state. 🍯 #cannabess

#Throwback to my visit at this medical-grade, Bellingham indoor grow. Mt. Baker Gardens is known for their beautiful buds and infused pre-rolls, but it’s their solventless extracts I’m especially fond of. With genetics like Sour Apple Gelato, Cherry Runtz and Strawberries & Cream, it’s no surprise they’re an award-winning farm.

I want to give a huge thank you to @bryanofcannabis for the facility tour and hospitality. Such a great experience, the industry is thankful for smiling faces like his.
