Reflecting on 2023 for New Years Eve
How is it New Years Eve 2023 already? Heck, 2020 seems like just yesterday. Time really is flying by. As I reflect on the past year, I feel so blessed.
2020 and 2021 left me exhausted. In 2022, I moved to the mountains. In 2023, I reconnected with my creativity, spent time in nature, worked with some of my favorite brands, and expanded my video editing knowledge.
I look back at the last 365 days and feel really accomplished. I’m ending my year on a high note, and I look forward to what 2024 has in store.
A year of collaborations
2023 felt like the year Cannabess got her groove back. But almost not…
In 2023 I received my tenth Instagram deactivation and reactivation. It reiterates there is still work to be done with Meta’s Terms of Service. The cannabis community’s Petition to Instagram hit 50,000 signatures giving more voice to our movement.
After that small stressor, I did a spring shoot for Bud Love and a groovy shoot for Budmaster. My friend Courtney shot and styled both, bringing colorful creative visions to life.
I visited Picc Platform’s facility and learned about their automated joint rolling process. They also sponsored my birthday shoot, shot and styled by Courtney.
I stayed at the cutest cabin on the water for Plaid Jacket with Keti. We smoked in the outdoor tub. Took dabs. Ate cheese platers. Truly a magical time.
For 4/20 weekend, I photographed the Craft Cup in Seattle. I always enjoy that event, as it has some of Washington’s best producers and processors. It’s nice to see industry events happening again.
This summer, I visited Lazy Bee Gardens, one of my favorite sungrown farms. I love their commitment to sustainability and they grow the most beautiful buds. For Croptober, I photographed LLV Green, a sungrown Benton City farm. It’s awesome to see Washington wine country turn weed country.
I did so many shoots in nature—hot springs, alpine lakes, tree houses, fall leaves—if it was outdoors, I probably smoked there. Thank you to all the brands who allow me to get high in some of the most beautiful places.
My year wraps with this New Years Eve shoot. Not sponsored, but it is indicative of how I enjoy creating content again. It’s representative of my year — inspired, fun, bright, bold and happy.
What’s in store for 2024
As I enter into the new year, I’m excited about current collaborations and what’s to come. In 2023, I felt a nice balance between my pot and political work. Cannabis content felt fun again. I look forward to carrying that into 2024.
