What happens when 27 men judge 27 dabs? I found out at the 2018 Ego Clash Invitational!
Sebastian at BA Botanicals invited me to attend this Mendocino County event. Ego Clash Invitational is invite-only for the industry’s leading producers and processors. What sets this event apart from others is the judging. Every person who enters becomes a judge, then you judge everyone’s product along with your own.

After three years in the industry, my stash box started overflowing with products and accessories. I wanted something new to not only organize my cannabis, but also show it off. While browsing a Seattle vintage market one weekend, I stumbled upon a bar cart and realized my marijuana manifestations had come true. “Aha, I need this gold, mirrored, Art Deco bud cart!”
Girls support girls, but me? I support everyone. I don’t care if you’re male, female, trans, non-binary, gay, straight, black, white, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, conservative, liberal, libertarian or AnCap. Society has us so categorized these days and it’s dividing us. I live life by the motto “don’t hurt people and don’t take their stuff.” If you live by that motto, I don’t care what you are — I’ll support you too.
The end of 2018 took an interesting turn. I witnessed women I once considered allies justify online harassment because they didn’t agree with my political beliefs. This positive, inclusive and open-minded community suddenly became a place only for a certain mindset. As a result, I purged a lot of women from my circle. I took a long, hard look at where I directed my energy and made sure to surround myself with women who support women.
The new year means new experiences. Lucky for me, Grown Rogue has strains for all of them. I recently toured this fabulous indoor facility and their outdoor farm, for a first-hand look at how Oregon is going rogue with Grown Rogue.
Grown Rogue is a self-described “seed-to-experience” company focused on the environment, community and education. All their products are Clean Green Certified, and the team only uses sustainable, organic-based practices. Genetics are also Phylos Certified (something I didn’t know about until recently), which provides a genetic library to thousands of cultivators.
This Croptober, I photographed my first cannabis greenhouse. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve been in greenhouses, but nothing that compares to the scale of BA Botanicals. At over 500 feet long, it really is like a football field of weed.
BA Botanicals is committed to producing the cleanest sun grown flower possible. While this is a huge facility, they aren’t focused on yields. “We’re focused on flower for the best resin and best flavor,” owner Sebastian Stalman said. “Yield is secondary, we want connoisseur level.”

I love summer and live for swimwear, so when I saw Discount Universe announce a sequin swim collection I jumped on that email list quicker than you can take a dab. Needless to say, this suit is even more stunning IRL, which is why I couldn’t wait to puff in it poolside.
We started our morning as the sun crept up over the mountain. My mom and I knew guests didn't hit the pool until 9 or later, so it gave me plenty of time to hit my Pearl Extracts pen with Lazy Bee Gardens oil. “I feel like a mermaid!” I called out to Keti while balancing on a rock and smoking a joint. As we looked around, it certainly felt like a movie scene. The tranquil blue water, mossy rocks and Mary Jane Swim would’ve made even Ariel ditch Price Eric to hit the joint.
Keti and I recently hiked one of my favorite locations, Denny Creek. I love this location for its mellow incline and lush trees, but most of all, the geology surrounding it all — waterfalls, boulders and rocks softened after years of erosion. I knew this spot would be perfect for Mary Jane Swim.
Choom brought the spirit of Hawaii to Toronto, to kick off their official launch at the 2018 Lift Expo. Lift draws attendees from around the world, so the team couldn’t wait to debut their brand. From the Hawaiian inspired booth to sneak peeks of apparel, everyone wanted to join the Choom gang.
Lift Expo, also known as Lift & Co., is Canada’s signature event for cannabis consumers, professionals and investors. The expo featured hundreds of exhibitors, more than 60 speakers and over a thousand attendees. Speakers covered topics including product diversification, Canada’s legal landscape and even medical cannabis treatments in veterinary medicine. Everyone from cannabis connoisseurs to the canna curious came out to ride the green wave, and Choom brought the board.
