Today I want to highlight one of Washington State’s most inspirational women in cannabis — Ariel Casie. We recently took a tour of BMF and Lester Farms, located in Raymond, Washington. I got a BTS of these beautiful facilities, learned more about their brands and enjoyed getting to know Ariel’s work in i502.

Like most people who work in the industry, Ariel wears many hats. She is the Director of HR and Compliance at Lester Farms. She’s also very involved with BMF, as the marketing coordinator.

Bulling Prevention and why women in weed need to lead by example

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. People tend to think of the cannabis community as open minded, progressive, accepting and tolerant. However, in my almost five years in the industry, I have seen a LOT of bullying in the industry. Today I want to speak out about my experiences being bullied by women in weed. I hope this post helps other victims of bullying know they are not alone, life will get better and to have the courage to speak out.

Before I go any further, I’d like to clarify a couple things. I felt torn sharing usernames of women involved. While the dominant Aries in me wants to call out everyone’s shit, what good does that do? When women hate on women, everyone loses. So lucky for those who hid behind their devices. I’m sharing my story, and helping save face in the process. I don’t want women to receive the same bullying I did. I also don’t want women to gain clout off their actions. So sit back, spark up and get ready for the most anxiety filled blog I’ve ever written.

Don't let the feminine aspect fool you. If you support cannabis, anyone can be a Cannabis Feminist. I recently attended one of their Happiest Hours and spoke with founder Jessica Assaf about femininity and her favorite flower.

So what is Cannabis Feminist? It's a community to celebrate the female flower and her ability to heal the world. This women-run organization is on a mission to transform cannabis into a universal wellness program and empower women to lead the industry.

PUSH Mag’s Seattle Ladies Dinner

A huge thank you to the ladies of PUSH Mag for organizing such a lovely ladies dinner. This didn’t feel like an industry event, but instead a meet-up of like-minded women.

These monthly dinners stemmed from a need for alternative female-oriented spaces. Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Abigail Ross, started the dinners as a way to bring all the industry women she’s met into a single space. Her hope? “We could find female allies and potential creative collaborators,” she said.
